We drink a lot of smoothies on the boat. I have one for breakfast each morning. I tend to stick with the same flavors — acai, berries, bananas and almond milk. We were shopping in Whole Foods the other day and we came across this delicious concoction as we were passing by the smoothy bar. It sounded so yummy I just had to try it out at home. The result was pure heaven! Rich, creamy and smooth, full of great ingredients and oh so good for you. You can’t go wrong with this smoothy. Try it after a tough workout or as a breakfast drink that will keep you full till lunch. The color is great for the holiday’s! The ingredient list is approximate, so you may have to tweek your amounts a little in order to get the right consistency and personal taste. It makes enough for 2 servings. Try it! It’s a favorite on our boat!
2 frozen bananas
1 cored apple, chopped
3/4 of a medium sized beet, peeled and chopped (or to you taste)
2 cups of almond milk
3-4 Tablespoons of unsweetened chocolate powder
1-2 Tsp. of ground Flax
1-2 Tsp. of ground Salba or Chia seeds (optional)
water to thin the smoothy
– Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix till smooth and creamy.
– Add water to thin smoothy if necessary.
Pour and enjoy!
